Adventure in the Himalayas
The villages of Mukteshwar region are nestled among silver oaks, rhododendrons, pines and deodars of the Middle Himalayas. They are a 2 hour drive from Kathgodam, the last rail head. Mukteshwar is famous for its temple of Lord Shiva and the sprawling century-old IVRI campus. The villages are devoted to terrace farming of seasonal vegetables and their gorgeous fruit orchards.
The villages are situated at an altitude of 2200 metres, commanding unrivaled views of the magnificent Greater Himalayas. Monts creations offer the finest in alpine recreational living. Outdoor activities, indoor luxury and organic living at Das Edelweiss will exceed everything else that has been achieved in the Himalayas.
At Das Edelweiss, let your telescope or large astronomical binoculars enthrall you with views of the crags and crevasses on Nanda Devi, the Trishul, and the Panchachuli. Be mesmerized by views of the Giant Red Spot on the Jupiter and the rings of Saturn. After all, this region also hosts one of the world’s largest optical telescopes - the 3m ARIES. Or just lie down on the terrace and be dazzled by the constellations and the arc of Milky Way streaking across the heavens.
Jump into the snow, make a snowman and throw snowballs in winters. In spring, be dazzled by the orchards in bloom - a sight to rival Japan’s finest cherry blossoms. In summers, jump off the cliffs at Mukteshwar or Bhowali and soar with the air currents under a canopy. Hop across the swollen mountain stream to reach the Bhaalu Gaad waterfalls roaring in the monsoon. The rustling forests beckon all year round for exciting hikes. Get on your mountain bicycle for a heart-pumping ride along 50km of the Ramgarh - Durganagar road at 2000m and above. Whip out your Nikon D850 mounted w a 200-500mm, f/5.6 (or your Hasselblad, if you must!) to shoot a Himalayan Golden Eagle in flight or a fox in the fields!
When you are in the Middle Himalayas, you wish for more hours every day to be able to do everything that you ever wanted to do.
